People living with bipolar disorder are often creative. In fact, artistic activities channel attention and allow you to escape for a moment and forget the pain.
💠 Painting and drawing
At the moment, I am working on my giraffes, my favorite animal! I love giraffes because they are sweet, gentle, and see the world from a different perspective. The world seen from above ...
I drew them and started coloring them in pencil. For the finish, I will use watercolors for the savannah at their feet.
I have been doing watercolor painting for a year. I let my imagination run wild ...
💠 Streetart - Chalk frescoes
I didn't think I could get into drawing or painting because my family members are talented and I felt useless compared to them. And then, in 2019, I met a street artist, who gave me self-confidence. We started to make giant chalk frescoes in the streets of Strasbourg🇨🇵. Then, I experimented with watercolors and drawing. My friend said to me: You see how relaxed you are and immersed in your work! ”Indeed, that focuses me and I go into another world!
💠 Photography
I also take photos. I have always loved it since I was a teenager, I photograph everything, my pretty girls at the beginning! 😉 I love taking pictures in Strasbourg, a beautiful city in NE FRANCE ! And nature in my neighborhood, because I live on an island. Yes true! I lost my dog in January 2019 and since then it's been hard for me to motivate myself and go out, so taking pictures gives me a goal to get out of my house. I created an Instagram account and I enjoy spending time editing and improving my photos with the tools. Again, I am focused and I forget everything ...
💠 Writing
I also write quite a bit! On scraps of paper, notebooks, my diary, and more recently in November on my blog:

The texts are in French but I shall write in English in the near future.
Writing for me is essential. It is real therapy.
💠 Music / Singing
I have a guitar but I would have to start playing again. It feels so good! Singing also brings me a lot of serenity. I don't sing very well but that's okay. I put my favorite songs on Deezer in French or in English, and I follow the lyrics with the music in the background like karaoke! It's super relaxing !
💠 Dance
Sometimes I turn on the music full blast and dance. Feeling my body expressing itself gives me intense emotions. I like Electro-Funk or Latin style for dancing. The energy of sound is transmitted through all my limbs to the brain. Pure dopamine! 💜🎶
🟠 In conclusion, I would say that the field of possibilities is endless. There are surely among you real artists, but there are also those like me who put their own barriers because of lack of self-esteem... Go ahead! Be assertive! No one is going to judge you! You will immediately see the beneficial effects on your mental health! 😉
